Andre Dirrell picks Arthur Abraham over Carl Froch
Former Super Six participant Andre Dirrell believes the man that illegally knocked him out of the tournament and may have caused him brain damage will defeat Carl Froch when they collide November 27.
Dirrell told Golzka Arthur Abraham will "win by knockout," adding, "I think Abraham will be on his A-game and so will Froch, but Abraham, the stronger and more defensive man, will win."
Dirrell, an original participant in the Super Six Boxing tournament, withdrew from the competition after complaining of "neurological issues" following a second round clash with Abraham.
During the fight Abraham was disqualified for hitting Dirrell after he slipped on the canvas, sparking a seizure on Dirrell’s part and a momentary inability to remember what had happened.
News of difficulties for Dirrell did not arise until an upcoming third round fight against Andre Ward was postponed. At that point his management cut in and said he would not be participating due to ongoing injuries that were originally thought to have healed.
Abraham and Froch will be meeting in Helsinki, Finland. Both have spoken immensely about the upcoming clash, and guarantee it will be a sensational fight.
Froch hopes to use his determination and offensive aggression to slow the equally powerful Abraham, who tends to hold his gloves higher than Froch and shows a touch more versatility in the ring.
Froch recently stated that he believes Abraham is scared of him, saying, "He is definitely afraid of me. It’s his first proper fight with a real puncher at 168 [pounds]."
There are seven outcomes to Froch-Abraham, all of which will affect each participant’s standings in the tournament and the nature of the next round. If Abraham knocks Froch out, he will tie Ward with six points and become the top-seeded participant.
A decision would put him in second place with five points. In that event, the semi-final matches would be Ward-Froch and Abraham against new addition Glen Johnson.
