Andre Greipel all set for the Vattenfall Cyclassics and the Tour of Denmark
Andre Greipel is back in action after a gap of one month and is optimistic to continue his terrific form in the remaining part of the season.
He is having an outstanding season and has filled his bag with numerous victories in the first half of the season.
The first win of his career came during the UCI inaugural event, the Cancer Council Helpline Classic and he also occupied the first overall position at the ProRace Berlin 2012.
The cyclist bagged three stages at the Tour of Belgium and also wins the points classifications at the race.
The German secured three stages at the UCI Inaugural event, the Santos Tour Down Under and made his intentions clear for the rest of the season.
Andre was chosen to represent Team Omega Pharma-Lotto at the Tour de France and his selection was pretty much justified during the event.
He wins the fourth, the fifth and the thirteenth stages of the Tour de France and helped his side with much needed victories at the contest.
The 30-year-old occupied two stages and the point’s classifications at the Tour de Luxembourg and two at the Tour of Oman.
He also bagged a stage each at the Tour of Turkey and the Ster ZLM Toer to mark a perfect start to his 2012 season.
“The Tour de France went for me and my team almost exactly as planned. But only almost, since Jürgen van den Broeck wasn't on the podium at the end in Paris, which was a very real possibility," he noted.
Greipel was discontent with his performance at the Olympics, “the results were not what we wished,” he admitted. “But it is just very difficult to control a race over such a long distance with such a small team”.
“I totally enjoyed every minute in the Olympic Village and at the various events”.
“At our race, too, the atmosphere couldn't be topped”.
“I have never before seen such a large public along a race course, just unbelievable!”
The cyclist will now be seen in action at the Tour of Denmark and the Vattenfall Cyclassics schedule on August 19, 2012.
