Andre Greipel closing in to secure the first spot at the Tour de France point’s classifications
Andre Greipel of Team Lotto-Belisol has already secured two stages at the Tour de France and the German is on track to secure the first overall spot at the point’s classifications.
The German succeeded during the fourth and the fifth stages of the race and has now become a prime candidate for the overall point’s classifications.
He did well to avoid Tyler Farrar during the stage 5 of the race, “I needed some good bike handling to stay on my bike when Farrar crashed”.
“I did drop back quite a few places, but Adam Hansen was waiting for me and he brought me back up to our other teammates”.
“So we had some luck there, but then the train worked perfectly again heading into quite a tough finish. It was perhaps 700m full gas".
"I've got the best team around me so why shouldn't I have the ability to beat him? If I stay on their wheels I'm always there when I need to be and that makes it easy".
The 29-year-old opened his 2012 winning account with a first place finish at the Cancer Council Helpline Classic and also finished first at the ProRace Berlin 2012.
Andre also bagged stages at the Santos Tour Down Under, the Tour of Belgium, the Tour of Oman, the Tour of Luxembourg, the Tour de France, the Tour of Turkey and the Ster ZLM Toer.
