Andre Greipel is not nervous ahead of his second appearance at the Tour de France 2012
Andre Greipel of Team Lotto-Belisol is confident for the biggest cycling race of the season, the Tour de France 2012.
The German marked his Tour debut last year and succeeded during the stage 10 of the race, helping his team with a much needed victory at the race.
He overcame Mark Cavendish to bag his first ever victory at the most prestigious cycling race of the season.
Andre is in much better form ahead of the race this year, with as many as 14 victories in his bag including the first place finishes at the Cancer Council Helpline Classic and the ProRace Berlin.
He also bagged two stages at the Tour of Oman, the Tour Belgium, the Santos Tour Down Under, the Tour of Turkey and the Ster ZLM Toer.
The cyclist joined Team Omega Pharma-Lotto in 2011 and is continuing his second consecutive year with the team.
He started riding professionally with Team TEAG Team Köstritzer in 2002 and stayed with the team by the end of 2004 season.
Greipel penned a one-year-deal with Team Wiesenhof in 2005 and signed Team T-Mobile through 2006-10 seasons.
"Last year I was really nervous. Who isn't in his first Tour de France," Greipel said.
“There is speculation that sprinters like Cavendish and Greipel might leave the race before the end to focus on the Olympic road race but Greipel stipulated that he wasn't planning to do so.
"I haven't been here too often in the past so now that I'm here I want to make the best of it”.
“Also in the last week I don't want to leave because there's the chance to sprint for the win on the Champs Elysees”.
Andre will also represent the German side at the biggest sporting event of the season, the 2012 Olympic Games.
He will lead the five-man German squad at the race, "Although it'll be hard to control the race with five men," he cited.
The final Team Lotto-Belisol squad for the Tour includes Lars Ytting Bak (Den), Francis De Greef (Bel), André Greipel (Ger), Adam Hansen (Aus), Gregory Henderson (NZl), Jurgen Roelandts (Bel), Marcel Sieberg (Ger), Jurgen Van Den Broeck (Bel) and Jelle Vanendert
(Bel).
