Andre Greipel to lead Team Lotto Belisol at the Tour de France 2012
Team Lotto Belisol announced its final squad for the Tour de France and Andre Greipel is given the leadership role for the event.
The German sprinter is having an outstanding season and has already filled his bag with more a dozen victories in the first half of the 2012 season.
The cyclist finished first at the Cancer Council Helpline Classics and also achieved the first position at the ProRace Berlin 2012.
He secured three stages at the Santos Tour Down Under, two at the Tour of Oman, one stage at the Tour of Turkey, three at the Tour of Belgium, two at the Tour de Luxembourg and one stage at the Ster ZLM Toer.
Team Lotto Belisol Sports Director Marc Sergeant is happy with the selected team and noted that it was never easy to pick the right squad.
"I think I might say we have a balanced and homogeneous selection of riders who already proved themselves to be ready at the right moment and who can manage on different terrains," he cited.
He explained that it is never easy to pick your best squad but it is the same story every year.
While commenting on the inclusion of Francis De Greef, Marc noted that the Belgian had a very good Giro d’Italia and can be pretty useful in the mountains.

Marc explained that his team has clear goals for the Giro with Jurgen Van den Broeck their prime General Classifications candidate.
“André Greipel worked his way up to the Tour and supported by Greg Henderson, Jürgen Roelandts and Marcel Sieberg”.
“He gets the great sprinting train which has showed its skills during the last weeks. Riders like Roelandts, Bak and Hansen also might have a chance in the transit stages".
The final Team Lotto Belisol squad include, Andre Greipel, Lars Bak, Francis De Greef, Adam Hansen, Greg Henderson, Jürgen Roelandts, Marcel Sieberg, Jurgen Van den Broeck and Jelle Vanendert with Jurgen Van de Walle.
