Andre Greipel wins the fourth stage of the Tour de France 2012
Andre Greipel of Team Lotto Belisol bagged his second stage at the Tour de France 2012 after his tremendous performance during the 196.5 kilometre race.
He crossed the finish line in a quickest time of 4 hours, 41 minute and 30 seconds and restricted Matthew Harley Goss of Team Orica GreenEdge for the second position.
"I'm happy because I won another stage in the Tour de France," said Greipel.
"There was a bit of a crash and I was behind it at 3k to go, but Greg Henderson was waiting for me”.
“The Lotto Belisol train was working perfectly today. It was a hard sprint, I think it was one of the hardest sprints I've ever done".
Peter Sagan of Team Liquigas-Cannondale also rode exceptionally well throughout the race but the cyclist was unfortunate to have ended up in a crash.
"I missed a great opportunity, especially for points toward winning the green jersey," said Sagan.
"Unfortunately, every time there is a sprint the script is always the same: everyone wants to stay ahead, everyone thinks they have good legs and do manoeuvres that cause crashes”.
The Slovakian finally finished at the 152nd position with Juan Jose Haedo of Team Saxo Bank, Samuel Dumoulin of Team Cofidis and Mark Cavendish of Team Sky Procycling occupied the third, the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
Andre was delighted after bagging his 14th stage victory in the 2012 season.
He also holds three stages at the Tour of Belgium, two at the Tour de Luxembourg, three at the Santos Tour Down Under and two at the Tour of Oman.
The German also wins the Cancer Council Helpline Classic and the ProRace Berlin along with a stage each at the Tour of Turkey and the Ster ZLM Toer in the earlier part of the season.
Fabian Cancellara is leading the stage 5 classifications with a gap of 7 seconds on the Bradley Wiggins of Team Sky Procycling.
Sylvain Chavanel of Team Omega Pharma-Quickstep is holding the third position, Tejay Van Garderen of Team BMC and Edvald Boasson Hagen of Team Sky Procycling holds the third, the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
