Andre Greipel wins the opening stage of the Danmark Rundt 2012
Andre Greipel continued his tremendous run of form after securing the opening stage of the Post Danmark Rundt 2012.
The cyclist completed the 191 kilometre event in a quickest time of 4 hours, 55 minutes and 6 seconds to occupy the top podium spot.
Alexander Kristoff of Team Katusha, Theo Bos of Team Rabobank Cycling Team, Luke Rowe of Team Sky and Stefan Schumacher of Team Christina Watches-Onfone claimed the next four positions in the respective order.
Andre is having a terrific season, with his first victory of the season coming at the Cancer Council Helpline Classic, along with the first place finish at the ProRace Berlin 2012.
The cyclist also bagged stages at the Tour of Belgium, Santos Tour Down Under, Tour de France, Tour de Luxembourg, Tour of Oman, Tour of Turkey, Ster ZLM Toer and the Danmark Rundt 2012.
Jesper Morkov won the first and the second sprints of the race while Morten Hoberg succeeded at the first, the second and the fourth mountain of the event. Jacob Nielsen won the fourth climb.
Luke Rowe, Tom Van Asbroeck, Wilco Kelderman, Eliot Lietaer and Wesley Kreder were the top five young riders on the day.
Andre is now leading the stage 1 classifications of the race with a total time of 4 hours, 54 minutes and 56 seconds with Alexander Kristoff holding the second position.
Jesper Morkov, Theo Bos and Luke Rowe claimed the third, the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order. Andre Greipel, Alexander Kristoff, Theo Bos, Jesper Morkov and Luke Rowe claimed the top five positions after the stage 1 point’s classifications.
Jesper Morkov, Jacob Nielsen and Morten Hoberg occupied the top three positions after the stage 1 most aggressive rider classifications.
