Andre Iguodala - Players likely to move into new teams next NBA season (Part-1)
After the cancellation of the first month of the regular season games, the chances of the full NBA season went down the drain. Although, there is immediate indication that the concerned parties in the NBA labour dispute – the NBA
owners and the Players union – will re-assemble again to salvage some portion of next season, if an agreement can reached in the two weeks, a season with significant NBA games can take place.
However whenever ever the league gets back to business, the concern as to who will be making a shift from his existing team remains. Similar to what the National Football League (NFL) experienced, the NBA will have less time to
make quick decisions in the free agency or the trades, the activities which can only take place once the he lockout is lifted.
The biggest threat for many NBA players is the new amnesty clause, which is quiet possible to be exercised in the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). The amnesty clause will allow NBA teams to clear up the cap space and
drop a number of players from their roster which will add to their free agency options.
Here is a list of some players who are expected to be seen in new teams by the start of the 2011-2012 regular season.
Andre Iguodala
Philadelphia 76ers’ shooting guard Andre Iguodala was one of the top players on the trade block last summer before the lockout took place. The rumours of Los Angeles Lakers trading their sixth man Lamar Odom to acquire Iguodala
surrounded the league and then there were some strong reports that the Golden State Warriors want the Philadelphia swingman in exchange for Monta Ellis. However, these rumours never materialized before lockout took place.
Los Angeles Lakers have a lot of experience on their roster. What they want the most is to have a young and athletic forward, who can add spark to the otherwise slow backcourt of the Lakers. The Sixers on the other hand is a team
filled with talented players, who are on the cusp of breaking out in the league. All they want is an on court leader, who can lead the way. Odom presents and ideal option in this regard.
Even, if Los Angeles Lakers don’t sign the deal after the lockout, Andre Iguodala will be traded by the Philadelphia 76ers, considering the team wants an experienced player in his place. Their next go to option are the Warriors.
Andre is a decent scorer, a solid defender and has also gained a good amount of experience in NBA. Monta Ellis on the other hand is a prolific scorer, but he is only a decent option on the D and also likes to get more ball time.
The Sixers, being a good defensive side, want a player like Ellis. But, to get him, they have to part ways with an equally good player and in that regard, Iguodala is the only option they have got.
Considering all the rumours concerning the trade of Andre Iguodala before the lockout, it is expected that the NBA player will not be seen in the Sixers uniform in the next season.
