Andre Iguodala excited about joining Denver Nuggets – NBA News
Andre Iguodala just won a gold medal with the U.S basketball team at the London Olympics on Sunday, and the guard already has a new team to look forward to for next season.
Iguodala was traded to the Denver Nuggets from the Philadelphia 76ers last week while he was in London, as part of a four team blockbuster trade that brought Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Iguodala played for the Sixers last season, and has been a member of that franchise for some time now. Last year was his breakthrough season, winning a spot on the All Star team and then leading the Sixers to an Eastern Conference
Semi Finals finish in the playoffs. That followed with him being selected on the 12 man roster for the U.S Team that went to compete in the London Olympics. And those Olympics recently finished with Iguodala and team USA clinching gold.
However, contrary to what many think, the move to Denver works in the favour for Iguodala, and he may be genuinely happy and excited to be moving away from the Sixers.
Though Iguodala has given a great deal to the Sixers franchise, there was always a feeling that he was not being appreciated in the club, and his skills were going unused.
After joining the Nuggets, Iguodala has become a member of one of the quickest and most athletic teams in the NBA. While talking to Nuggets.com, Iguodala said:
“I like the roster that Josh (Kroenke, team president) and (executive vice president of basketball operations) Masai (Ujiri) have assembled. It’s a high-energy group with a lot of athleticism. I’ve played with Andre Miller and
know how valuable a player he is. Ty (Lawson) is one of the best young point guards in the league and Danilo (Gallinari) can really stretch the defense with his shooting and can do a lot of other good things offensively.”
The Nuggets are going to be a good team in the Western Conference next season, and the addition of Iguodala will not only help Denver, but will also be beneficial for his career.
Iguodala fits better in the Nuggets offense, and will get plenty of chances to run the floor in transition when Denver play their attacking brand of offense next season. He can also defend the floor well, something which the Nuggets
needed in the line up. It is a good move for Iguodala as well as the team.
