Andre Iguodala has no timetable for his return
Philadelphia 76ers guard Andre Iguodala has missed his team’s last two games with a tendinitis in his right Achilles, and the high-flying former Arizona stand-out said they do not have any
timetable for his return.
According to Iguodala, his injury has been “on and off”, which is making it difficult for him to decide whether he will play or just sit out again to avoid any further damage in his Achilles.
“If you break something, you know exactly when you're coming back,” said Iguodala before their 94-86 loss against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday 17 November. “With this, it's off and on.
One day it feels fine, then the next day something as simple as changing from offence to defence, when you try to change real fast, you jerk it a little bit and you're right back where you were initially.”
Although he has not practised with the team yet, the 26-year-old guard, who is averaging 12.8 points and 5.6 rebounds this season, is hoping that he can play on Friday 19 November and help
the 76ers snap their five-game losing skid, when they host the Milwaukee Bucks at the Wells Fargo Center.
“I'm trying to take it one game at a time,” Iguodala said. “It's very frustrating. Nobody in the league is playing at 100 percent, but you want to be comfortable out there. I haven't been
able to practice with the guys, and that's making it hard, too.”
Philadelphia first-year head coach Doug Collins is also aching to have the high-flying guard back because the team sorely missed his defensive explosiveness in their offensive sets, although
he clarified that Iguodala will be the one to decide on his return date.
“As a man who had a lot of injuries in his career, nobody knows your body like you do,” said Collins, whose team currently stand at the cellar of the Eastern Conference with their 2-10 record.
“When he's ready to go, he'll let us know and he'll be back out there because we definitely need him.”
