Men’s Singles expert Andre Kurniawan Tedjono of Indonesia played impeccable badminton and overwhelmed Ivan Sozonov in the qualifying round of Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open on November 20, 2012.
He took just 21 minutes to wrap this showdown in two games with a favourable result of 21-13 and 21-9.
The Indonesian campaigner established his grip over the game from very first stroke and kept his challenger under control until last shot was played.
On the other hand, Ivan Sozonov failed to come out of his rival’s influence throughout this tussle. He lost first set with a eight-point deficit and then crashed out of the event after receiving a severe blow in the second set.
This win took Andre Kurniawan in the second stage of qualifying round where he will test his skills against Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk of Thailand.
He will employ all of his brilliance in the game to ensure his presence in the main draw of this Super Series.
The Indonesian shuttler has alarmed all the contestants by sealing a splendid straight-set victory in his opening match.
He utilised interesting tactics in first segment of the showdown as he kept a low profile in the establishing rallies but then outclassed his competitor with an intensive attack.
Initially, Ivan Sozonov was in strong position to pocket this valuable match point but his fluctuated performance triggered the collapse.
