Andre Marteen beats Quang Tuan Bui in Men’s Singles first round of Vietnam International Challenge
Indonesia’s emerging player Andre Marteen showed his elevated performance as he defeated Vietnam’s Quang Tuan Bui in Men’s Singles first round of Ciputra Hanoi Vietnam International Challenge 2012 in Vietnam, on Wednesday, March 28.
The Indonesian proved his mettle and convincingly overpowered the local shuttler who was having the support of home crowd on his side.
However, Marteen did not get confused with the opposition of crowd and managed to win the contest in three games with a decent margin.
In the opening game, Marteen showed his impressive play as he executed powerful strokes in the right areas and remained successful in taking a convincing lead until the break in the first set.
On the other hand, Quang could not live up to expectations as he failed to match the speed of his Indonesian opponent and remained struggling.
Marteen was fully focused in the opening set of the match and remained in complete control of the pace of rallies. He dictated his opponent in all areas and ended the opening set with an impressive margin of 21-13.
In the second set, Quang showed elevation in his play as he did not commit mistakes this time. He remained positive and managed a small lead until the end of first half.
After the break, Marteen accelerated his speed to tackle the aggression of his rival but failed as his local opponent was positive this time.
Marteen could not stop the progress of his challenger in the second set and lost it with a five-point deficit of 16-21.
In the deciding game, both men entertained the local fans by keeping the pace of rallies at the highest level.
They remained toe-to-toe in the opening half and were close on the score board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, Marteen managed to dictate the pace of rallies by playing better badminton at net.
He got into commanding position at the concluding phase of deciding set and won it with a decent 21-18 score on the board.
The Indonesian emerged as victorious of this first round contest against the Vietnamese opponent with an interesting score of 21-13, 16-21 and 21-18.
