Andre Marteen stretches his winning run at Indonesia International Challenge – Badminton News
Upcoming Indonesian badminton player, Andre Marteen, displayed his elevated craft on court in Men’s Singles second round and showed exit to Thailand’s Tara Ruengsakvichit at the Indonesia International Challenge 2013, in Surabaya,
on Wednesday, July 3.
The 15 seeded Andre, who had a tough first round contest against Malaysia’s Kian Meng Tan, found a good flow in this battle against Tara and easily secured a comprehensive victory by consuming 36 minutes on court.
Andre took a few minutes to settle down on court and then he raised his level of play. His perfect anticipation and flawless shot execution were the major factors that create the difference between both contestants. He easily won
this match with a huge margin of 21-13 and 21-14.
Meanwhile, the lower ranked Tara was shocked with the attacking play of his local challenger. He tried to keep the bird low but failed to tackle and strong pushes and net play of Andre. He went down without making his presence
strongly felt.
Andre played in a calm and composed manner in the starting points and he tested his strokes by playing in all areas. However, he geared up his speed gradually and took over the control of driving seat.
The Indonesian was very skilled in playing with variations and he kept his Thai rival under pressure all the way. Until the one-minute break, Andre was leading the score board with a great margin.
In the second half, the local shuttler continued making his home fans happy with his impressive craft. He manipulated all weaknesses of his lower ranked rival and remained successful in winning the opening set with a wonderful
margin of 21-13.
In the second game, Tara tried to give a good fight to his rival by playing attacking shots but he failed to shake the confidence of Andre. Meanwhile, the Indonesian shuttler progressed with a great pace and again took a considerable
lead until the break.
In the concluding half, Andre maintained his speed and did not allow his Thai challenger to get close. He continued his roller-coaster run and wrapped up the second set with a big margin of 21-14.
