Andre Mayer's charge of CEV extended for next four years - Volleyball
The Confederation European de Volleyball (CEV) has recently announced that Mr. Andre’ Meyer has been appointed the President of the CEV for a tenure of four years. The decision was made at the General Assembly of CEV in Vienna, Austria on Saturday, September 17. A delegation of members from 54 National Federations attended the XXXII CEV General Assembly and gave out a vote of confidence to Meyer. The unanimous mandate from the delegates has shown the trust the members place in the President’s skills and abilities to run the CEV in an efficient and progressive manner.
Mr. Meyer was first elected as the President of CEV in 2001. Since then, he has taken the CEV to new heights and the Federation has seen massive development in the last ten years. He put immense effort in promoting the sport of volleyball in Europe and standarised policies for all federations.
After assuming the Presidency for four more years, Mr. Andre expressed his views by saying, “I have to sincerely thank all of you for your support. I also feel the responsibility to pay back the trust and confidence you have shown in me and I will be working hard to live up to your high expectations also in the years to come”.
In addition to the selection of the CEV’s President, polling also took place for several other positions on the same day. At the end of the day, other important announcements were also publicised.
Belgium’s Philip Berben was elected as President of European Financial Commission (EFC). Renato Arena of Italy settled for the role of European Beach Volleyball Commission (EBVC) Chairman. Dutch Riet Ooms was named as the President of European Cups Commission, while responsibility of the Medical Commission (EMC) was assigned to Prof. Dr. Manfred Holzgraefe from Germany. Switzerland’s Aloys Fischer will perform his duties as President of Legal Commission of CEV (ELC). His compatriot, Jan Rek, has been appointed as President of European Refereeing Commission (ERC). Serbian Aleksandar Boricic will be the new supervisor of European Coaches Commission.
Moreover, the Confederation European de Volleyball also launched a new web-site on Sunday. The new website was made to be user-friendly while encompassing a contemporary design. The CEV has unveiled the page after spending several months on its development. Some aspects of the site are still being developed and some features will be introduced at a later date.
