Andre-Pierre Gignac expected to return for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 – Ligue 1 news
Olympique de Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac is expected to make a return against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toulouse-FC-c40751 in Week 10 of the 2011/12 Ligue 1 Championelle, according to reports in French media.
Gignac, who went through a weight-loss program in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926, has made a full recovery and would be available to help Les Phoceens in their tottering start of the 2011/12 Ligue 1 campaign.
The 25-year-old has not been able to stabilize his situation at Stade Velodrome. Playing only for 72 minutes this season for Marseille, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international has been going through a lot off the field.
Besides being plagued by injuries all year, Gignac was taken off the summer transfer window at the last moment, with Fulham closing in on a deal, as the Rhone club failed to find a suitable replacement.
Coach Didier Deschamps will be looking for a change on the field when they face Toulouse on Saturday, October 15, 2011. The 2010 champions of France have only accumulated eight points in nine league games, with one win and three losses.
Although Gignac has gone through a lot of misadventures, the former Toulouse is now ready to give his best when he faces his former club.
In an interview, Gignac’s doctor, Christophe Baudot, said that the French striker was fit to join the group but he would not be at his 100%.
He was quoted saying, “It would be difficult to reach 100% potential with just training and not playing... His body feels better, he has no pain. We have much hope.”
Baudot further added that recovering from a long term injury leaves psychological effects on a person’s mind. “He knows he must work harder to integrate in the team, because we need everyone. He is currently training and motivation is very important.”
Les Phoceens face a tougher opponent on weekend and considering their form, the French tactician might take a gamble on playing the experienced striker in hopes of overcoming their lack of wins this season.
Marseille face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 on October 19, 2011, in the group stage of UEFA Champions League. Following a great start to the Champions League campaign, the Rhone club will be looking for a fully fit team in order to continue their form in the European Championship.
