Andre-Pierre Gignac sent to Merano, Italy by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 coach Didier Deschamps
2010/2011 Ligue campaign was an overall very disappointing campaign for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international striker Andre-Pierre Gignac. The 25-year-old had joined Olympique de Marseille only last summer and in his first season at the club, failed to impress.
The 2011/2012 campaign might even be worse for the Frenchman who has a lot of work to do in order to impress Les Phoceens’ coach Didier Deschamps. The former Toulouse striker had a groin operation in late May this year. He was expected to recover for the
preseason but an injury during a training camp once again ruled him out.
Though the striker is recovering steadily, coach Didier Deschamps feels that Gignac has gained a lot of weight that needs to be reduced. Therefore, the French tactician has sent the striker to the famous spa town of Merano, Italy. Merano is a very popular
destination for footballers. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 of Real Madrid went there in order to regain their fitness levels.
According to French daily L’Equipe, Gignac is not really appreciative of the decision to send him to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926, the former Lorient man is willing to do whatever it takes to get his career back on track.
“I had a meeting with my coach Didier Deschamps who is very attentive towards my development. So on his advice; I’m going to a specialised centre in Italy. The purpose of this trip is allowing me to follow a specific and individual preparation prior to my
return to the group,” the 25-year-old said.
Gignac said that he was hopeful of a good result from his stay at the spa town of Italy before he joins his team-mates at Marseille. Gignac also added that he is recovering well and is motivated to do well for Marseille.
However, it seems that the striker might find first-team opportunities hard to come by this season. With Loic Remy in great form along with Andre Ayew and the rapid rise of Andre Ayew’s younger brother http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jordan-Ayew-c19098, Gignac might find it really hard to cement
a starting place in Deschamps’ side.
