The Olympique de Marseille striker continued his red-hot form in the league, scoring couple of well taken goals in the Clasico to earn his side a valuable point on Sunday
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international showed what he is capable of with an eye-catching display against the Parisiens at Stade Velodrome on Sunday, in the first Clasico of the season.
The 26-year-old scored both goals for the hosts helping his side to stay on the top of the table. And the Frenchman is pleased with his performance against the cash-laden club from Paris.
Talking to reporters after the Sunday clash, Gignac expressed delight at his goalscoring form and vowed to continue playing like that in the upcoming games for Marseille.
The former Toulouse player said that scoring goals against any side is amazing, but to score against a team like Paris Saint-Germain is indeed pleasing.
"I'm happy to have scored these two goals, being Marseillais makes scoring against PSG all the more exciting.
The striker said that Marseille put a lot of pressure on the visitors from the very start and that helped them score an early goal. However, the player feels that OM should have stopped PSG from scoring from the set pieces.
“We put a lot of pressure on them from the start and used up a lot of energy, maybe that's why we conceded twice from set-pieces.” the former Lorient player told ligue1.com
Gignac added that he wanted to register a win on Sunday and just a point after playing so good is just cruel.
“The draw is a mild disappointment as I thought we could have done better."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-de-Marseille-c40127 coach, Elie Baup, has heaped praise on the striker citing him one of the best in the country.
The coach said the Les Phoceens are lucky to have a player of his calibre in their ranks and his overall contribution in the Clasico was phenomenal.
"Gignac responded to the PSG goals and what he's done this season is in the image of what the team has done. He's scored goals but then there's also the work he puts in getting back in position and doing the pressing."
