Andre-Pierre Gignac vows to work hard at Olympique de Marseille – Ligue 1 news

Following his big-money move from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toulouse-FC-c40751 last summer, the Frenchman failed to impress at the Stade Velodrome and scored just eight goals in 30 league appearances for Les Phoceens and was consequently dropped from the starting XI in favour of Loic Remy.
This summer, the 25-year-old had been linked with a move away from the Stade Velodrome amidst rumours that coach Didier Deschamps wanted to bring in a new striker at the club. Italian international Amauri was heavily tipped for a move to the Rhone giants
but the Juventus striker’s high wage demands forced Marseille to end negotiations.
During Amauri’s negotiations with Marseille, Andre-Pierre Gignac was asked/allowed to look for a new club that he could join on loan. English Premier League side Fulham were interested in the striker’s services and had reportedly reached an agreement with
the player.
However, following Marseille’s refusal to accept http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Amauri-c5381’s demands, Marseille called back Andre-Pierre Gignac and the striker is still a player of Marseille.
A few days ago, Gignac expressed his frustration at being treated like that by Marseille. However, the striker has now said that he is fully committed to the Marseille cause and is willing to go the distance with the club and will do everything he should
in order to get back to goalscoring form.
While talking to the media, the striker said that the whole transfer saga is now a thing of the past and he will come back stronger than ever.
“When you’re pride and ego is touched, you come back ten times harder. I will work hard and show every one that I am the striker they (Marseille) want. It’s football, and I understands the demands of a big club. I know that we need results. I did not do
well last season.”
Certainly Giganc’s performances did not impress people last season but the striker did not deserve such treatment in the final hours of the transfer window, only to be recalled because Deschamps could not find a replacement.
Determined to win back support, one can expect Gignac to comeback with an appetite for goals and proving all doubters and critics wrong.
