Ligue 1 giants, Olympique de Marseille would be without the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 international Andre-Pierre Gignac’s services for several weeks after the striker fractured the fifth metatarsal of his left foot last night in a Ligue 1 encounter against Troyes.
While talking to reporters after his team’s second defeat of the campaign, the former Toulouse man said that straight after landing awkwardly, he knew that it was a serious injury but said that he will bounce back for sure.
“Simply, I landed on my left foot, I felt that it gave away, I immediately felt a lot of pain, I knew it was fractured. This is what’s part of the life of a footballer. Now, I’m reading a lot of things and this is not what will make me give up. I look forward
to seeing you in no time,” said the striker who had made such a great start to the campaign before getting injured.
However, despite being so optimistic, Gignac is aware of the fact that he will be missing several weeks of action. Flawless Gignac will not be in the field for at least five or six weeks which is a cause for concern for coach Elie Baup who had finally started
getting the best out of a striker who in his first two seasons, struggled with injuries and form.
Indeed, one should feel for Andre-Pierre Gignac. Here, the player is wounded again after making such a great start to the campaign. The revival had finally been witnessed by all related to the club. The striker had a great preseason and was indeed fully
fit for all games.
However, what happened in the 18th minute of the game against Troyes is something the player has to deal with.
Furthermore, a fifth metatarsal fracture is not healed quickly. One should remember the case of former Marseille man Stephane Mbia who also experienced the same injury and was out for two months. Now, it is Marseille’s leading goalscorer who will be out
