in 2009 but had a comparatively unimpressive start to his campaign. During his first season, Schurrle made 33 appearances but scored five goals in process compared to this season’s 15. This rise earned him a recall to the German line-up and he grabbed it with
both hands.

German coach, Joachim Low, also praised the youngster for proving his selection right and hinted at retaining him for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers.
Low concluded by saying, "It was another very good performance from Schurrle, not only because of the goal. His play without the ball is remarkable and he can go at a very fast pace."
Schurrle has now penned down a deal with another Bundesliga outfit, Bayer Leverkusen, which means that the youngster will have an opportunity to play in next year’s UEFA Champions League.
