Andre Stolz confident of his chances in Volvo China Open – OneAsia News
Andre Stolz of Australia, who earlier won the inaugural Indonesia PGA Championship of OneAsia, is now hoping to add another win to his career bag. It was a great win for the Australian as he played well during all the four rounds.
This was Stolz’s eighth career victory which came at the right time. He also has one victory playing on the PGA Tour and loads of experience on his shoulders. Now, he has set his eyes on the Volvo China Open.
The 40-year-old had a wrist injury in 2005 and since then, worked hard on improving his game. The injury was a dangerous one as his career could have ended six years back. This was a good comeback from the Australian player who won
by a margin of one shot. Certainly, this win has increased his confidence level.
Now, the veteran is targeting to play in the Volvo China Open. It will be a tough task for him to perform as all the top ranked players will be featuring in it. The field will be full of top players from Asia as well as Europe.
It will be a spectacular sight for the spectators to watch all these top ranked players. They all will battle hard against each other to capture the China Open title.
"I am looking forward to a big year. I have come back with a different attitude to golf after my injury and I enjoy it more now instead of putting too much pressure on myself. I want to go out and have fun and work hard, and win more tournaments this year,"
said Stolz.
The 40-year-old’s hard-work paid him dividends as he won PGA Championship. He has been working hard on the practice range as well as on his putting stroke. Stolz was relieved after his victory as things were not going in his favour. He also grabbed the winner’s
cheque of US$180,000.
Now, the Australian will be hoping to put up a great fight in the Volvo China Open. He is familiar with the conditions in China and feels excited about competing in the event.
The Volvo China Open will be played at the Luxehills International Country Club. Although, he missed the cut in his last outing at this course, he still is confident of showing his class on the field.
Last year at this course, he had a disastrous second round as he had to be out of the projected cutline score.
"I was playing pretty good at Luxehills on the first day last year but it got very cold on the second day and I struggled to adapt so I ended up missing the cut by one or two shots," he recalled.
This will be a co-sanctioned event by the European Tour also. It will be a great win if Stolz is able to pull out a victory for himself.
