Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has revealed he has no problem with former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 boss Rafael Benitez despite the Spaniard being linked with replacing him at Stamford Bridge.
After a string of poor results in the English Premier League, FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League, Villas-Boas’ position at the club has come under question. It has been suggested that the Portuguese manager will soon be sacked and replaced with none other
than Rafael Benitez.
In the past the Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has never been patient with underperforming managers, and it is believed he will be no different with Villas-Boas. Having been ruled out of the title race for the Premier League crown, the Blues are now in fear
of losing out on the FA Cup and the Champions League.
Unlike the old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, the Blues stumbled to a 1-1 draw against Championship side Birmingham City and now await the replay. A failure to win in the replay will result in their elimination from the FA Cup competition and leave them one less trophy to compete
for.
Similarly with the Champions League, the Blues lost the first leg of the round of 16 against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 and will be waiting for the second leg, which will be held at Stamford Bridge. Villas-Boas has made it clear that while he cannot guarantee trophies this
season, he is certain he will not be replaced any time soon.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“It would be an honour for me (to meet him). I have no problem with that.
We share a common friend but I have never met him.
We were going to have dinner three or four months ago but we didn't. It would be fantastic to have dinner with him.
He is one of the most successful managers in world football.”
According to the Portuguese manager he had wanted to meet Rafael Benitez and did not consider him a replacement in the future. He spoke of the upcoming clash against Bolton Wanderers and ruled out the home advantage, claiming Stamford Bridge did not quite
have the same effect as it once did under the reign of Jose Mourinho.
He revealed:
“There is no fear factor at the Bridge.
I don't know if there ever was. There is a fear factor at a couple of grounds in this country - Anfield and Old Trafford. It was a difficult place to come under Jose Mourinho but there is no fear factor of emotion.”
