http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss Andre Villas-Boas admitted the Blues hit man Didier Drogba still had a few years in him, having more than proved himself for the Blues in both the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. This puts an end to rumours linking Drogba
away with a move from Stamford Bridge in the upcoming January transfer window.
Villas-Boas said in an interview:
“His level of performance has been outstanding, helping the club and team-mates.”
While his initial contract with the Blues is supposed to end at the end of this season, Chelsea could be offering him a two year extension. The Portuguese manager revealed the club was in talks with the player, regarding a possible contract extension.
Villas-Boas said:
“Of course, the club have to agree that players who perform are the players who should continue. It's an ongoing talk with him and his people.”
The 33-year-old, who is one of the oldest players at the club, proved in the clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 that he was one of the best strikers. He scored two goals in the 3-0 win over the La Liga side which saw them progress to the next round as leaders of their
respective group.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 boss is certain that Drogba can go on to play for the club for two more years regularly, but revealed that they had to have sufficient replacements for when Drogba was unavailable. The Ivory Coast international is expected to be away
for the African Cup of Nations.
He continued:
“Also, we have to recall that he's going to the African Nations Cup and won't be back until February 12, so there's a lot to decide.
But his professionalism and integrity will never be in question, regardless with what happens with his contract.”
