The new Tottenham Hotspur manager says that Spurs want to do well in the Europa League but does not commit that he will play a full strength team in the competition on a weekly basis as they have to look after their Premier
League interests as well...
Andre Villas Boas has admitted that he will pay due attention to the Europa League as Tottenham want to do well in the second tier European competition but he did not commit that he will play a full strength team week-in and week-out
in the Europa League.
Harry Redknapp failed to lead Tottenham to a UEFA Champions League qualification place last season and thus he was dismissed at the start of the summer transfer window, only to be replaced by Andre Villas Boas. Villas Boas was
at Chelsea last season after leaving his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at Porto but he failed to work his magic at Stamford Bridge and was relieved of his duties half way into the season.
Tottenham are now looking to rebuild after Redknapp’s dismissal and Villas Boas has been made in charge of brining a change at White Hart Lane. However Villas Boas will have to manage a squad which has several players that want
to leave for greener shores in search of Champions League football such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857.
The former Porto manager said, “We would like to compete in the four competitions differently – particularly in the Europa League, which is the first European competition I won, and the only one. Hopefully I’ll get some more in
the future.”
He added, “It’s also a competition which has so much history in this club, so we would like to extend our competition, in terms of titles, to all of them. I’m going to choose regarding what I see in training, because I’ve always
done that.”
Villas Boas won the Europa League in the 2010-2011 season with Porto but since then he has failed to capture any piece of silverware as his time with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 was woeful to say the least but a new beginning with Tottenham might
just be the thing he needs to get his career running in English football.
