Andre Villas-Boas the next Jose Mourinho? Uncanny similarities of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 legends
Players bulging with God-gifted talent are a common sight in world football today. They tend to appear out of nowhere and soon enough, have their own legions of fans chanting their names and hounding them for autographs. Rarely does one come across a manager with such little playing or managerial experience, yet he takes the world by storm with his natural talent alone. Andre Villas Boas is a glaring example.
Raised up in the football mad city of Porto, his only http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/British-Virgin-Islands-c2859 team. But he soon left and became the Assistant Manager under Jose Mourinho, who took Porto to new heights by winning the UEFA Champions League in 2004.
As Mourinho went to new Pastures in Chelsea and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, Boas followed Suit but left in 2009 to join Academica de Coimbra, whom he guided to the semi-finals of the Portuguese Cup, losing out to his future employers Porto.
After the departure of Jesualdo http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ferreira-c13712, Boas returned to the Club whom he had supported as a child. Success was not far behind and soon Boas lifted his first major honour, defeating Benfica 2-0 in the Super Cup. This paved way for an unprecedented haul of silverware, as Porto bagged the Primeira Liga, UEFA Europa League and the Portuguese Cup – all of this in his first season as Porto Manager!
His similarities to ‘The Special One’ are uncanny; both were relatively unknown when they started their respective careers and secured the Portuguese League in their maiden seasons with minimal defeats. In 2003, Mourinho won the UEFA Cup. Fast forward to 2011 and Porto’s latest tactician masterminded yet another annexation on Europe’s second tier competition. Besides being young and inexperienced, both managers quickly cemented their places in Europe’s Elite early on. Mourinho went onto new challenges fairly quickly, and Villas Boas looks set to imitate his mentor.
His impact on the top stage has not gone unnoticed by Europe’s Elite and Boas is now tipped to be the next Chelsea manager. But he will have to compete against the likes of Guus Hiddink and Harry Redknapp, who also have had their share of success. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 for a record $50 million. In spite of Carlo Ancelotti’s efforts to build the team around the Spanish international, the tactics backfired and Ancelotti was given the boot. Regardless of the rumours surrounding Villas Boas, Porto President Da Costa remains unnerved.
“I do not expect the exit of Villas-Boas - there is a clause price of 15 Million Euros but I am totally convinced that even if any club came in with the offer, he would reject the proposition.” He said.
"Villas-Boas is very committed to Porto and more so after this big season. Two days ago he also told me that if no players leave, then he will not even need any new players." Da http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-c9458 concluded.
If Andre Villas does take on the hot seat in Stamford Bridge, he will have to deal with Chelsea’s Russian owner, Roman Abramovich, and his “Obsession” with winning the continent’s most prestigious prize, something even ‘The Special One’ failed to achieve in London.
