Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly to be unveiled as the new Tottenham Hotspur manager sometime next week.
After being sacked by the Blues in March this year, Villas-Boas has been linked with various clubs. However, he has apparently turned down a move to Brazilian side Sao Paulo as he seems to want to remain in the English Premier League and take charge of the
Spurs.
Under Villas-Boas Chelsea got off to a decent start to the season, but were unable to retain their form. After they dropped out of the top four and were dumped out of the Carling Cup, the hierarchy at the club decided to replace the young Portuguese manager.
He was replaced by his assistant manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roberto-c31294 Di Matteo, who led the Blues to their first ever Champions League trophy. Villas-Boas has remained without a club, until now since he is most likely to be appointed by Tottenham Hotspur in the upcoming week.
While previously http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 coach Laurent Blanc was also linked with the manager’s position at White Hart Lane, he seems to have ruled himself out of the race. Andre Villas-Boas currently remains the only manager to be in talks with the club.
Tottenham Hotspur finished fourth on the English Premier League table but failed to qualify for the Champions League, because of which manager Harry Redknapp lost his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684. This leaves Spurs on the lookout for a replacement, which could be announced as early
as next week.
Sao Paulo are known to have made an approach for the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adalberto-c3511 Baptista confirmed that Villas-Boas had indeed rejected an offer by the club to take up the manager’s position.
Baptista revealed in an interview:
“He today said that he doesn't want to manage Sao http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paulo-c29431.
He prefers to have more time to plan things but I have no time to wait.”
With pre-season training to start in July, Tottenham Hotspur will want Villas-Boas to take charge of the club as soon as possible. Especially with a lot of players looking for a move away, the arrival of a manager could convince them otherwise.
