Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has appealed to the Blues supporters to not single out Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anton-Ferdinand-c6260 during the FA Cup fourth round tie.
It was during the Premier League clash against QPR that Chelsea skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 was charged with racial abuse against Ferdinand. While Terry denied the claims, he will have to appear at a hearing on 1st February at West London magistrates’
court.
The Blues had no choice but to condemn their own supporters after chants of “Anton Ferdinand, you know what you are” in the 1-1 stalemate against Genk in the Champions’ League group stages in November. The Portuguese manager revealed he did not want any
such problems when his team travelled to Loftus Road.
Villas-Boas said while speaking to reporters:
“Regarding the fans, it is our responsibility as a club to calm the situation around the game and also to put on a message for the media as you can do excellent work in calming things down and everyone can have an impact for just another game of football.”
The 34-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager believed it was the club’s responsibility to curb the fans aggression towards other players. He urged them to calm down and look at the upcoming match as just another football match and not anything special.
Meanwhile, Villas-Boas’ side have been barren in front of goal in their last Premier League fixture but the manager did not think it was a point of concern. He also refused to blame striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 for the lack of goals in their last fixture.
The manager was certain Torres had been in terrific form and had done incredibly well, despite being unable to score. In fact Villas-Boas praised the Spaniard, who he believed had improved this season as compared to last season.
He revealed:
“The fact that you saw that the team produced so many attacking opportunities was also down to him and his movement and mobility. Again you can't say that we don't create enough opportunities for us to find the winning goal.
It is just that efficiency and timing of arrival and that is sometimes down to lack of fortune.”
