Andre Ward, Carl Froch set to take on each other in Super Six showdown – Boxing news
The reigning WBC Super Middleweight champion, Carl Froch and the current WBA World Super Middleweight champion Andre Ward will take on each other in a mouth-watering Super Six World final on October 29, 2011.
This event will be held at the historical Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.
Both pugilists are pretty confident ahead of their mega unification showdown.
The Cobra, Froch, who has won 28 of his 29 professional fights including 20 by the way of a knockout, knows everything will be on the line and therefore he reckons his bout with Ward is one of the biggest bouts.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “Not only is it for two world titles, but it's for the tournament trophy and The Ring belt is also on the line. It makes this the biggest and the most prestigious fight to happen for as far back as I can remember.”
The 34-year-old from Nottingham, Froch, who defeated Mikkel Kessler through a controversial points’ decision in the semi-final, also believes he has a superior punching power than Ward, who on the other hand secured his place in the final with a comprehensive
win over Glen Johnson.
“My punching power is far superior to Ward's. This will prove to be the deciding factor,” said Froch.
The 27-year-old American unbeaten combatant, Ward, who has won all of his 24 fights including 13 by the way of a knockout, however thinks Froch is saying it all to get some attention from the media.
Ward stated he is not worried as Froch is the not the only fighter who has said something against him.
Ward remarked, “I don't think Froch gets the attention he deserves in his country so he tries to get it in the United States. He's certainly not the first to speak out against me and he won't be the last.”
There has been a lot of hype created ahead of this mega 12 rounder. However let’s see if Froch can really see off the unbeaten prospect in front of his home crowd or not.
