Andre Ward believes Bradley should accept his defeat humbly – Boxing News
Andre Ward, the current WBA and WBC super middleweight champion, believes Timothy Bradley lost the match against Manny Pacquiao and he should accept his defeat. Bradley won the WBO welterweight title from Manny Pacquiao on June 9 at the MGM Grand in Las
Vegas via split decision. The judgement soon became a victim of controversy as most fans and analysts thought Manny had won the fight by far. Ward is a bit late yet he thought it is important to reveal his thought as well over the fight. Fighters like Amir
Khan and Oscar de la Hoya have already pronounced Pacquiao winner of the fight and now Ward joins the league.
According to Ward, “There was nothing there, nothing to suggest it [the fight] was even close. If you were being generous, extremely generous, maybe you could give Tim [Bradley] four rounds and he loses 8-4. I love Tim...but he has to know that he lost the
fight. If it was me personally. I would admit defeat and say, 'Here's your belt back.'”
Ward then said, “It's a tough situation. But you gotta make a stand and that will help make sure that this kind of thing doesn't happen again. He [Bradley] won't lose any stock - in fact, his reputation would be enhanced.”
He added that Bradley has nothing to hang his head about and that he hurt his foot yet did not give up in the ring, giving some good shots to Pacquiao. When asked about the decision that was made, Ward called it a shame for the boxing world, saying such
judges are messing up with the livelihoods of people if they are taking such decisions. He even said that such decisions hurt the credibility of the sport and the pay-per-view numbers.
For now, Ward believes that Bradley should admit he was defeated and give the title back to Pacquiao. Even Oscar de la Hoya, former fighter, believes Bradley should have done the same right after the decision was announced. Probably, there was no one out
there who believes Bradley won the fight yet the unbeaten American maintains he did.
