The Juventus President believes that the Italian football federation is operating beyond logic by refusing Antonio Conte’s plea bargain.
Andrea Agnelli has criticised FIGC for being overly harsh to Juventus by refusing to accept the plea bargain of Antonio Conte, and believes that taking the word of one person against many represents unfairness on part of the justice system.
The Bianconeri manager was talked into taking a plea bargain for a four-month ban plus €200,000 fine, but the Disciplinary Committee refused to accept it stating that the punishment was insufficient.
The coach is under trial for his time in Siena, where he is accused of failing to report an attempt of match fixing by the testimony of one player- Filippo Carobbio- while all his other team-mates continue to exonerate the manager from the blame.
The Old Lady tactician has refused to take on another plea bargain attempt, and has decided to take on the quest to prove his innocence, a step that could lead to a potential 15-month ban if proven guilty.
Moreover, the Italian sporting justice system is set in such a way that one is guilty until proven innocent.
Andrea Agnelli has launched an attack on the entire justice system, suggesting that the system is unfair and biased.
The Juventus chief was adamant that the refusal of plea bargain for a person that was not involved in the match fixing is unfair on part of the judges, and defies all logic of equity.
The Bianconeri President stressed that the Turin outfit has remained calm over the matter, but stressed that they have had enough of the system that continues to sideline the real culprits.
While talking to the press, the Old Lady patron said;
“We have realised the FIGC and its sporting justice system continue to operate outside of all logic for rights and fairness. Juventus and its employees have maintained a relaxed and consistent attitude towards the institutions and respect for attitudes that
straight away suggested a new attack was aimed at damaging the club. The results of these various charges show enormous contradictions and seem to protect exclusively those who committed sporting fraud. This is paradoxical and cannot be accepted.” He added.
