The former central defender of the German club, Wolfsburg, has gone on to remark on the impact the ban of Antonio Conte has had on the fortunes of the Turin outfit.
If there were any doubts on the significance of Antonio Conte, the head coach of Juventus, they would have been quashed by now. This is because of the comparisons that can be made with the results of the previous years as compared to this year. The difference
between the two seasons can be seen by the fact that the coaches have been different for the two years that the team.
In his first year at the club, Antonio Conte guided the team to their first Scudetto since the Calciopoli controversy; however, they have not reflected the same hunger and passion that was on display throughout the previous campaign. This is because the
head coach of the Turin outfit has been banned for his alleged involvement in the Scommessopoli controversy, where he was alleged to have failed to report instances of match fixing in the Albinoleffe-Siena match during his tenure as the head coach of Siena.
Despite denying the allegations vehemently and no evidence found for the case, he was still convicted for the allegations mounted against him and Juventus had to find replacement for their superstar head coach. They opted to put Massimo Carrera, their technical
assistant, and then Angelo Alessio to deputise for their head coach, but Barzagli has felt the difference in the team.
He has stated that the temperament of the former head coach of Bari has been missed and it is not easy to replace someone who can make the team click on a regular basis, and take them out of a rut of disappointing displays.
Barzagli went on to state:
“It is not easy to face so many games without a Coach with his temperament, someone who knows how to drag us along. [Assistants] Massimo Carrera and Angelo Alessio are good, but the Coach is something completely different.”
The Turin defender was talking to Corriere dello Sport and during his conversation with the magazine reflected on the match against Torino as well.
