Andrea Dovizioso dissatisfied with fourth position finish at Catalunya Grand Prix – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso is not happy to finish at fourth place in the Gran Premi Aperol de Catalunya.
The Italian’s best finish yet of the 2011 season is at second place in Le Mans behind his teammate Casey Stoner.
Repsol Honda rider, Andrea Dovizioso said, “I didn't have a perfect start and this complicated the race. In the first laps with a full tank, I didn't have good stability in the front. With the hard tyres the traction was not so good compared to Lorenzo,
Spies and Rossi who were riding with soft tyres.”
The Italian started the race from fifth place but soon he made his move to pass his Ducati Team compatriot Valentino Rossi and placed himself fourth to cross the finish line. The race was a tough fight between the riders.
Dovizioso added, “Even if we improved compared to Le Mans in terms of lap times, I'm not happy finishing 4th position, five seconds behind the winner. Today we were fast and I think that with a good start we could have at least fought for the podium. I'm
sorry for my team as they worked hard during the whole weekend.”
The Italian chased Yamaha Factory Racing rider Ben Spies after his overtake had crossed the finish within a second. Dovizioso was confident on the improvements made on his RCV during the weekend and was optimistic to make a podium finish.
The lap was affected by a brief rainfall with 12 laps on the countdown and caused the Italian rider to keep up with the lack of traction under wet conditions. The rain also affected the pace of race leader Casey Stoner for which he had to be very careful
to maintain the lead and gap from championship leader Jorge Lorenzo.
Dovizioso is ready for the next racing weekend at the Silverstone circuit for the AirAsia British Grand Prix on June 12, 2011. Let’s see how it goes for him.
