Andrea Dovizioso finds a solution to the speed related issues during the Brno test – MotoGP news
Andrea Dovizioso of Monster Yamaha Tech3 ended the test session as runner up at Brno on Sunday.
He completed his lap in 1 minute and 56.578 seconds after his teammate, Cal Crutchlow. He believes that he has found a solution to improve his speed in the middle of the corners.
Dovizioso said that it was a positive test at Brno because they tried to understand if a different setup could give them better speed at the corners compared to the race and were able to find some positive and negative results during their experiments. He
added that they have found a solution to get better speed at the corners as compared to the race.
He said, “It was a positive test today because we tried to understand if a different set-up could help give me more corner speed compared to the race, particularly in the middle of the corner.”
He added that they tried a few changes to the front but were unable to get their desired results therefore, they have reached the conclusion that to attain faster speeds in the middle of the corners they would have to make modifications in the rear tyre.
“We tried something on the front but this didn't make such a big difference, so it is clearer now that the improvements have to come from the rear to give me more speed in the middle of the corner,” the Italian rider said.
Furthermore, he said that the road grip was good but the strong wind was making it difficult to improve the lap time. He added that he is happy with their small improvement and is looking forward at the outcomes of their improvements in the upcoming Italian
Grand Prix.
He had a close battle for the third position at the podium with Crutchlow but was unable to achieve his desired position in Czech Republic Grand Prix. He completed the race after 18.591 second from the leader, Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda.
Dovizioso has signed his new contract for the upcoming 2013 season with Ducati. Let’s see how his experiments at Brno reward him at the Misano circuit.
