Andrea Dovizioso leads second free practice session of Gran Premio d’Italia – MotoGP news
Repsol Honda rider Andrea Dovizioso led the second free practice session of the upcoming Gran Premio d’Italia at Mugello.
The first free practice session was ruled by Marco Simoncelli of San Carlo Honda Gresini team. The homeboy made a good impression after being criticised in the ongoing 2011 MotoGP season for his rash tactics.
Compared to the dry morning FP session, the second free practice session was held under damp conditions.
In the afternoon session, another homeboy, Andrea Dovizioso took charge of the final time sheet for FP2. Dovizioso gave his best time shot of 1:49.272 seconds as he topped at 326.4 km/h.
Meanwhile his super fast Aussie teammate, Casey Stoner did not complete a lap and stood out of classification for the final time records. Dani Pedrosa, on the other hand, also avoided to take any risk and decided to skip the second free practice session.
In the morning session, Pedrosa was at seventh place while Stoner was second fastest in FP1.
The second place was occupied by LCR Honda rider Toni Elias. The Spaniard gave his fastest time with 1:51.937 seconds.
The third place was held by Valentino Rossi at 1:52.550 seconds who managed to perform a little better in front of his home crowd.
Alvaro Bautista was placed fourth in FP2 final time sheet and made attempts to tweak his GSVR for better traction.
The fifth fastest rider was Randy de Puniet form the Pramac Racing team. His teammate is out of the event in order to recover from the injuries he suffered last week.
Karel Abraham of Cardion AB Motoracing came sixth and was followed by another satellite Ducati rider at seventh place, Hector Barbera of the Mapfre Aspar team.
Eighth rider on time sheet was Cal Crutchlow and ninth place was occupied by Nicky Hayden followed by Hiroshi Aoyama in the tenth place.
