Andrea Dovizioso says he has alternatives if his deal with Yamaha falls out – MotoGP news
Andrea Dovizioso has said that he has alternatives and he can look into those options if needed.
He said that he might even look into moving to Superbike World Championship. Dovizioso has warned Yamaha that if he fails to land a works ride with the team he make look into those avenues.
The Italian has been very public about his desires to land a works ride with the current leading team of MotoGP.
The Japanese manufacturer is still undecided over the Italian’s future with the team for the 2013 year. Even though Dovizioso has been able to get four podiums in the last five races which has helped a lot in making a strong case for his inclusion in the
side, Yamaha has yet remained silent.
Dovizioso believes that Yamaha is only buying time to make a decision and that is not going down too well with the Italian. He added that he understands now that meritocracy does not count so it is possible that he might not be able to have a factory bike.
While admitting to that he said he does have other teams and makes and in addition to that something very different also in his bag which he can look into if need be.
He was asked whether he could be open to a switch into Superbikes, to which he replied, “Yes, that. My objective in MotoGP is to get back on a works bike, because only then could I aspire to get the results I still lack: to fight for the title. If I don't
get that, then I might as well go for different experiences.”
“I'd like to work with Valentino. When he was at Honda I was on the Formula 1 programme, so the only time I've seen him racing with us from our pits was at the Suzuka 8-hour race,” he said. “It hasn't been possible to place him in the works team, but I'm
ready to supply him with a factory bike in one of our satellite teams.”
It will be interesting to see the deal goes down with Dovizioso and Yamaha.
