Andrea Dovizioso wants to beat Honda onboard Yamaha in the 2012 season – MotoGP news
The Italian MotoGP rider, Andrea Dovizioso is willing to beat Honda with the help of Yamaha in the 2012 MotoGP season.
Dovizioso has spent four seasons with the Repsol Honda team in the MotoGP World Championship but unfortunately has to leave the team due to budget crises. The Italian rider was disappointed to depart from the team.
While talking to Sportmediaset, Andrea said, “It’s a very important challenge, I can’t wait to start testing at Sepang to understand the real potential of the Yamaha. At Valencia, I felt the bike was good in some aspects and negative in others. To defeat
Honda, there will need to be some work.”
The 125cc world champion joined the Honda family since the 2002 125cc GP season following the career start with Aprilia in 2001.
After a competitive decade of racing with Honda in different races he is charged up to beat his former team in the premier motorcycle racing world.
He looks forward to Yamaha Company that they will help him to achieve the goal. After a successful 2011 season he moved to Monster Yamaha Tech3 team that offered him a tempting contract.
He rode a brilliant season abroad a Honda RC212V and took four second places on the podium and three third positions. Due to limits to his current contract, he was not allowed to test the 1000cc Honda RC213V during the 2011 season.
On the contrary, his former two teammates, Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa tested the news machine on several occasions.
In the season finale event he took a third place on the podium and completed his season in third place, ahead of Pedrosa. His Spanish teammate was close to snatch the third position in point standings.
His maiden ride with the Tech3 Yamaha YZR-M1 was at the Valencia. Season’s last official outing was held following the last race of the year at same venue.
He also felt that the bike had some plus points and in some aspects, it needed improvements. The Italian was able to record his best lap time at 1 minute and 33.256 seconds.
The Italian rider has been a tough challenger for Yamaha factory riders Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies on RC212V. Now with same machine M1, in a satellite team it will be a new test to his racing talent.
