Andrea Guardini claimed his fourth consecutive stage win at the Le Tour de Langkawi
Andrea Guardini grabbed his fourth consecutive stage win at the Le Tour de Langkawi as the Italian cruised his way across the finish-line ahead of Jacobe Keough and Harrif Salleh.
The cyclist crossed the finish-line in the fastest time of 3 hours, 57 minutes and 11 seconds to grab the top position during the fourth stage of the Malaysian race.
Jacobe Keough, Harrif Salleh, Yohann Gene and Valentin Iglinskiy secured the second, third, fourth and fifth positions in the respective order.
Guardini joined Team Farnese Vini-Neri Comauto in 2011 and helped the side with five stage wins at the Tour de Langkawi 2011 and finished third during the stage 3 of the race.
He grabbed the fifth stage at the Tour of Qatar and two stages at the Tour of Turkey during the most recent version of the race.
Andrea commented after crossing the finish-line, "This is my nicest win because it took the most suffering, we’ve believed in the win when nobody else did with 30km to go".
"Today's win sums up the perfect job of my team for catching the breakaway at the last minute, other teams only rode for positions," he continued.
Jacobe Keough of Team UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling secured the second position.
"For the first time I got a proper lead out, I went from 300m to go. Maybe next time we use different tactic and we can beat Guardini," he noted after the race.
Kiwi cyclist, Louis Crosby, claimed all three sprints of the race and earned 15 important UCI points.
The general classifications remained unchanged, as David Zabriskie of Team Garmin-Barracuda is leading the category with a margin of 1 minute over Adam Phelan.
Darren Lapthorne, Tom Danielson and Jose Rujano Guillen are holding the next three spots after the stage 4 classifications.
Guardini is also leading the Sprint Classifications with a total number of 45 UCI points to his credit.
Jacobe Keough, Anuar Manan and Valentin Iglinskiy achieved the second, third, and fourth positions, respectively.
Team Garmin Barracuda is leading the teams’ classifications after the stage 4 classifications.
Team Drapac Cycling is at the second position and Team Androni Giocattoli is occupying the third spot after the team’s classifications.
