Andrea Hlavackova and Renata Voracova progress into the semifinal of Grand Prix SAR – Doubles
Czech pair of Andrea Hlavackova and Renata Voracova took down the American pair of Ahsha Rolle and Mashona Washington in the second quarterfinal match of the doubles category at the Royal Tennis Club de Fes, in Fes, Morocco. The
winning pair wiped out their unskilled opponents in straight sets 6-0, 6-2, in less than one hour to book their berth in the semi finals of the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) tournament.
Despite the disappointing nature of their defeat, it was an acceptable trip to Morocco for Rolle and Washington, as they made it to the quarterfinals defeating the Moroccan pair of Lina Bennani and Fatima Zahrae El Allami in the
first round, before losing the match to Czechs.
It was a tremendous presentation of dominance and class from the Czechs who had excellent agility throughout the contest. Hlavackova and Renata held all the aces right from the beginning and won the match with a loss of only two
games. Their defensive shots from the baseline gave no room for their opponents to breathe. The American pair was expected to play better at the tournament, but they only won a meagre 13 of 37 points in total and completely disappointed their fans. Rolle and
Washington couldn’t move past their opponents and lost the first with a bagel. Moreover, neither of them was good in the second set and only managed to win 19 of 48 points in total and lost the match in straight sets.
In comparison, the Czech pair scored most of the rallies and didn’t waste any single opportunity granted by their opponents in the first set. Asserting themselves with a desire to emerge victorious in straight sets, Hlavackova
and Renata continued their dominance in the second set as well and scored 67 percent of their first serves on target, winning 63 percent of points on them. Breaking their opponent’s serves twice, the Czechs completely destroyed them and emerged successful
with straight sets.
With this big success, the pair has certainly given their next opponents something to think about prior to entering the semi-finals of the Grand Prix tournament. With this win, the pair has extended its match winning streak to
two matches and will be looking forward to extend it further. They brushed off the wildcard pair of Bianca Botto and Nadia Lalami in the first round of the tournament. They now move on ahead to face the fourth seeded Bosnian/Croat pair of Mervana Jugic-Salkic
and Darija Jurak in the semi finals of the tournament.
Besides them, the Russian/Austrian pair of Nina Bratchikova and Sandra Klemenschits and the Russian/Kazakh pair of Dinara Safina and Galina Voskoboeva scored big wins and battled past their opponents to secure their berth in the
last four.
