Andrea Pavan wins the Bad Griesbach Challenge Tour by Hartl Resort – Golf news
Andrea Pavan carded a four-under par 68 in the final round of the Bad Griesbach Challenge Tour by Hartl Resort record a one-stroke victory over Marco Crespi. It was the third European Challenge Tour title victory of his career.
Entering the final round, Pavan had a one-stroke lead over Riu Victor at a 15-under par overall score. He then got off to a brilliant start, as he birdied three of the first six holes while conceding just one bogey.
Thereafter, he parred each of the next three holes to reach the turn in two-under. The back nine of the course witnessed him recording three birdies over the first eight holes, before bogeying the last to finish with a 19-under par tournament score.
Crespi, in the meantime, had a great chance to force the game to enter into the playoffs, especially after Pavan lost a shot on the final hole. Standing on the 18th green, Crespi was sharing the lead with his rival, however, a bogey putt ruined his chances
of playing the extra holes at the Hartl Resort.
Talking to the European Challenge Tour’s official website, he expressed his pleasure in contending strongly throughout the tournament and recording a close win in the end.
“It feels great as it is tough to win, and you can’t control that,” said Pavan. “But today was a battle, I played very well, and I hit so many good putts, and to make that birdie on 17 was great with Marco making a move behind.”
“My caddie just told me to stay patient, to keep playing the same way I have been, and the putts will drop, and they did, so it’s great. It’s not easy to win out here, and to get a win at this time of the season it gives me a lot of confidence,” he added.
Meanwhile, Crespi was disappointed on missing out on a chance of making it to the top of the leaderboard. Overall, he recorded nine birdies during the final round. However, three bogeys were the main reason that forced him to remain at bay at the end of
the tournament.
