The two had just recently met at the Rogers Cup 2011 in Toronto, where Petkovic had finally equalized the head-to-head by securing a bread stick and a 6-2 win against Kvitova. This was the seventh time the two were meeting and
Petkovic was easily able to score one up against her old fangled rival.
The German smashed an ace during game point and won the game; however, in the next game she struck 2 double faults and lost two points, while, Kvitova had struck 5 double faults and lost a couple of points.

only 46% of her shots on target of the first serve.

to bag a 49% of the total return points.
Something didn’t click for the world number 6 (Kvitova) and she sanctioned two break points to her adversary, which, Petkovic took full advantage of and gained an upper hand. On the contrary, Kvitova had wonly managed to break
her opponent once, winning 1 out of 4 break points faced with.
By accomplishing 40 points out of the 76 in her total service points, the world number 11 (Petkovic), won by 4 more points in the first set.

76% win in her total service points.
Petkovic displayed vintage form as she dismantled Kvitova with maximum precision in her returns achieving a 50% win in her total returns and a perfect assistance from her first serve, allowed her to achieve a 58% win of her total
set points.
