The experienced full-back has ambitiously set his sights on helping his new club win promotion back to the top tier of the French football. And after achieving that feat, the Italian wants to challenge for the Ligue 1 crown.
While talking to reporters, the former Palermo player stated that the main motive behind his move to Monaco was the stature and the ambition of the club. Raggi said that it is really hard to turn down an offer from a club like Monaco who have a rich history.
"I chose Monaco because I think they are a big club. When you receive an offer from such an ambitious club, you cannot refuse. I am very happy to be here.”
The right-back stated that his main objective is to help Monaco win the promotion back to the Ligue 1 claiming that Les Rouge et Blanc do not belong in the Ligue 2.
“I have only one objective, to help Monaco back into Ligue 1. The club should never have left the elite.”
Raggi feels that the French club can challenge the best in the business and has his eyes set on challenging cash-laden Paris Saint-Germain for supremacy in France after returning to the Ligue 1.
“I am convinced that Monaco can challenge a team like PSG if we return to Ligue 1.First we have to concentrate on winning the Ligue 2 title. Only after that, we will see if we can rival Paris."
