The former Genoa centre-back had a season to forget in the Nerazzurri shirt, as fitness and form continuously came in his way of him cementing a place in the team.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan bought full rights of the defender in a 12.5 million Euros deal from Genoa in the winter transfer window of 2011. The defender who stands at 6 feet 5 inches tall came on the back of great hype as being the next best Italian defender.
However, the defender has come under a fair bit of criticism in the 2011/12 season, where he has been plagued by an inconsistent run in the team. His inconsistency has led to a more prominent role on the bench as compared to the football field, and the Italian
has acknowledged the dip in his form.
His inconsistency led to 12 starts in the Serie A for the lanky defender which is a terrible return for a top quality player. Ranocchia acknowledged that he was not able to give his team his best in last season’s campaign. Another reason for his form might
be attributed to the number of managerial change at the San Siro, and along with that Inter Milan suffered one of their worst streaks of results under Claudio Ranieri last season; where they only managed a single victory in 10 matches.
The former Grifone stalwart went on to state that he has worked extremely hard this season, and he is hopeful of having a much improved campaign in the coming season. The Italian defender was talking to the Inter Channel and in his interview he went on to
state:
“Last season I struggled to do anything really. However, I've worked hard to reach this stage of pre-season in top shape with the hope that I can go on to have a great campaign.”
He went on to comment that his motive was to compete at the highest level possible, and remarked:
“I’m striving every day to not just become a better player, but to become the best. I've learnt from the mistakes I made last term and I'm trying to make up for it.”
Ranocchia was not part of the Azzurri squad that reached the finals of Euro 2012.
