Andrea Stramaccioni has insisted that his future at the club is not linked to securing a UEFA Champions League spot, and insists that the decision for his next season stands decided in Massimo Moratti’s head.
The young manager was promoted from the Primavera management at the helm of the senior side to replace Claudio Ranieri. The tactician has since led the team to spectacular turnaround in the league, placing the Nerazzurri back in
the contention for the final UEFA Champions League qualification spot in the league.
The Nerazzurri chief has been widely commended to stay at the Milan outfit for the next season, but the caretaker coach is adamant that the decision about his future has already been made.
Stramaccioni expressed his belief that his fate at the club stands certain with the president. The manager stated that Moratti is at liberty to make whatever decisions he feels right, but insisted that he has also openly expressed
his plans for the future.
While talking to the press, the 36-year-old said:
"[Regardless of Sunday's outcome], I think my destiny has already been written. Moratti is free to choose as he pleases, but I feel that I also have clear ideas [about my future]."
The Beneamata are set to face their city rivals in their next Serie A match, and the manager extolled the opposition’s resolve in the season.
Stramaccioni stated that the elimination of the team from UEFA Champions League was a major setback for the Champions, and insisted that the team has done extremely well to keep their heads up in the league.
The manager insisted that the Rossoneri were on the verge of shutting down their season after dismal results against Bologna and Fiorentina, but insisted that the team has once again acquired a lot of positive momentum in their
league campaign.
"I think that Milan were dealt a setback after their elimination from the Champions League, but were very good at not giving up. The risk of their season collapsing was there after the results against Fiorentina and Bologna, but
now they have the wind in their sails once more."
The Nerazzurri boss insisted that he wants to see a lot of heart and courage from his team in the upcoming derby, and stated that the team will go into the match without any memories of the Parma defeat.
