Andreas Beck: The wall of 1899 Hoffenheim - Bundesliga Special
As Germany have produced many known attackers, strikers and midfielders, the country isn’t far behind in giving rise to some top quality defenders. One of those defenders is http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andreas-Beck-c5716 who currently plays for the Bundesliga outfit 1899 Hoffenheim as a right back.
The player is into his sixth year as a professional footballer having also previously represented the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879. Beck has also represented his country at the U18, U19, U20 and U21 levels before making his international debut in 2009.
The player joined Stuttgart’s youth set-up in 2000 at the age of 13. He was given enormous opportunities to prove his mettle and polish his defensive skills. The pundits reckoned Beck as an emerging talent. They also tipped him to become the one of the finest defenders in Europe. But, to be honest, the right back hasn’t done enough justice to his talent.
As a result, the player lacks silverware and deserves to play in one of the top European outfits. Beck never really invited interest from the likes of Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Juventus or Milan, the clubs which should have been his ultimate destination.
After spending five years in Stuttgart’s academy, the player was called up to represent the club’s second string side. There, he was able to impress the officials with his composed defending and earned his senior’s debut in February 2006 against Arminia Bielefeld. Eight months later, the 24-year-old scored his first and only goal for Stuttgart against Bayer Leverkusen, resulting in a 1-0 win for the Swabians.
Beck spent three years of his professional career at the Mercedes-Benz Arena before parting ways with the club. He represented the second string Reds in 23 games, scoring a solitary goal in return. The defender managed to make 27 league appearances for Stuttgart’s senior side to go along with his only goal against Leverkusen.
The German international made a switch to Hoffenheim in an anticipation of winning trophies. Unfortunately though, Beck’s dream hasn’t come true as yet. The player is also yet to score his opening goal for Hoffenheim. Beck made a total of 30 league appearances for the club during his first year. The right back din not take long to cement his place in the club’s starting line-up. He was able to win thousands of hearts in his opening season at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena.
The following season, the youngster made 25 league appearances followed by the 2010/11 campaign, where he managed to participate in 33 league games. Beck has been one top player in the Hoffenheim ranks who at times has single handedly carried all the burden upon his young shoulders.
The right back earned his Germany call-up in 2009 following some impressive performances for Hoffenheim. He made his debut against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 U-21 side in the finals. The German amazingly kept a clean sheet in the final as his side went on to win by a 4-0 margin.
Beck has nine international caps for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 under his belt until now. The defender is yet to open his account on the international level. Hoffenheim finished the 2010/11 season 11th on the table and Beck, as has been the case in the past will once again be one of the key players for his club.
