The Austrian international revealed he is willing to fight for his place in the squad under Paul Lambert and would not mind competition. He managed to score just two goals last season, but is hopeful of doing better in the upcoming season with the Villans.
With the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nathan-Delfouneso-c27377 are the remaining strikers at the club. Weimann said he would not mind another striker coming in since he was determined to prove himself to the manager in pre-season training.
Weimann said while speaking to reporters:
“There's myself Gabby, Darren and Nathan now that Emile [Heskey] has gone. I think for myself it doesn't really matter if a new boy comes in because I've still got to be at my best in pre-season to show the gaffer what I can do.
If he thinks I'm good enough to play then I'll play. Obviously, if a new striker comes in it is good for the competition, but for myself I've got to be more concerned about showing the gaffer what I can do myself.”
The 20-year-old felt if he managed to impress the new Aston Villa manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paul-c29347 Lambert, he would be able to earn a place in the first team for the upcoming season.
