Andreea Vaideanu flabbergasts Karin Morgosova
in final qualies – Slovak Open 2011
Romanian Andreea Vaideanu took three sets to thrash Home-girl Karin Morgosova in the final qualifying round of the Slovak Open 2011.
On Monday the 14th of November 2011 at the Národné Tenisové Centrum in Bratislava, Slovakia, on indoor hard courts the two had duelled racquets. After a lengthy two hours and five minutes the Romanian managed to survive
a mid match fall of 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-3 against Slovakian Morgosova.
Vaideanu served first as for the opening set as she had won the service toss and both the players had managed to hold their respective serves. During the third game Vaideanu held her serve and then broke her adversary to take a
mini lead of 3-1 at the end of the fourth game.
However, Morgosova made a return by breaking back immediately in the following game to reduce the deficit to 2-3 and she had completely mitigated the deficit during the sixth game with a hold serve to equalize the score at three
games each.
During the following two games, she repeated the feat and by the end of the eighth game, she was now a game away from clogging the initial set. As she held her serve in the ninth game, she clogged the opening set by restricting
her adversary to only three games.
After taking a thrashing, Morgosova took a notch higher in the second set. The players matched a blow for a blow from the very beginning and kept the score tied for the first ten games at five games each. During the last two games,
the players traded in breaks and the set was shoved into a tiebreaker as each player had bagged six games each at the end of the twelfth game.
The cat and mouse chase carried well into the tiebreaker and each player kept bagging their respective service games. Nonetheless, the score kept tied at six points each but from there onwards, Morgosova pushed herself to restrict
the double faults and rushed past her adversary to clinch the tiebreaker at 8-6.
By the end of the tiebreaker each player had bagged a set each and inaugurating the decisive set was Morgosova. This time the Slovakian got off to a bad start as she was unable to hold her service game. On the other hand, Vaideanu
had capitalized on an early break and squandered two successive games to place herself on the scoreboard with a mini lead of 2-0.
However, Morgosova managed a return by equalizing the score at two games each with a hold of serve and by benefitting from a breakpoint in the fourth game. As the two once more held their respective serves, the score tied at three
games each at the end of the sixth game.
During the last three games, Vaideanu took out her A-game by utilizing the break-serve-break method and in doing so; managed to secure a berth in the main draw of the event.
