Arsenal’s Russian midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrei-Arshavin-c5771 left the Emirates and went on to join Zenit on load on the deadline day of the transfer window, as the player looked to pick his form up before the Euro 2012.
Arshavin was having one of his worst seasons with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 this term and many believed that the midfielder would be on his way out, sooner rather than later.
However, with Zenit looking to secure the midfielder on a loan deal, the Gunners opted to let the player leave till the end of the season, while they decide just what to do with him.
The Russian has been out of favour at the club in recent months and this has reduced his first team options significantly.
As a result, many believe that Arshavin might just insist on staying with the Russian team on a permanent basis.
When talking about his move back to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Russia-c2991, in order to represent Zenit once again, Arshavin is quoted to have said:  “When they made an official offer I thought hard about it and realised it would be the right move.”
“Coming back to my home team and city would be beneficial to both sides. I haven’t been playing regularly for the Gunners lately and it didn’t seem like things would change soon, so the offer came at the right time and place.”
“I think that at the moment a loan is more important to me than to the clubs. I hope to play more football in St. Petersburg.”
“You have to earn your right for a first-team spot. Hopefully I can prove my worth to our head coach.”
At the moment, it is unclear whether Arshavin will be guaranteed a starting role in the Russian national team, mainly due to the fact that he hasn’t played many games over the last couple of months.
The midfielder really needs to prove his worth with Zenit and should his performances be half decent, he could see Arsenal coming back for him, while offering him a contract extension. His performances could also ensure his stay in the Russian national team,
despite rumours claiming that he might be dropped in the near future.
