Arsenal star reveals the reason behind his emotional return to Zenit St. Petersburg and assured the fans of helping the Russian outfit in the Russian Premier League.
Zenit St. Petersburg have confirmed signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrei-Arshavin-c5771 on loan deal until the end of the ongoing Russian Premier League campaign.
The Russian striker, who moved to the North London club back in 2009 for a reported 15.4 million pounds, has returned to Zenit on the transfer deadline day.
Arshavin had been linked with a move away from the Emirates stadium in recent days, with a move to the ambitious Russian club, Anzhi Makhachkala seemingly on the cards, while a switch to Dynamo Moscow among several other clubs
was also touted.
However the 30-year-old ended the speculations by joining the St. Petersburg club on a six-month loan spell.
Arshavin, who signed a four-year contract with the Gunners three years ago, returned to Zenit after failing to win a starting berth under Arsene Wenger. Reports in Russia suggest that Luciano Spalletti has signed the Russian striker
to replace the injured http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Danny-c10193 Miguel.
There’s little arguing that Danny helped the Russian outfit offensively. The Portuguese national had earned himself a regular place under the Italian tactician ever since his big money move from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186.
His latest knee injury prompted Spalletti to request the St. Petersburg club to let him sign his potential replacement, Arshavin.
Speaking on his transfer, Arshavin said: "Friday was a very difficult day for me. I really want to play for Zenit and want to help this club retain the league title this year. I will do my best to help the team achieve this.”
The Russian Cup winner has expressed his delight after returning to his former club and assured the fans of decent performances in the upcoming third league round. He admitted that lack of playing time convinced him to make his
move back to Russia.
As things stand, Zenit are atop the league table and six points ahead of the second-placed CSKA Moscow.
Arshavin went on to deny the reports suggesting him injured and revealed that he is fit enough to play.
