Andrei Kovalenko captures Men’s 100m breaststroke title: Day one – 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup
Andrei Kovalenko of K.O captured gold medal of the Men’s 100m breaststroke on day one of the 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup in Kharkiv on Monday, May 7.
Kovalenko astonished the crowd by snaring gold medal of the double lap breaststroke discipline. With his impeccable efforts, he gave no chance to his competitors and dictated terms to his opponents from the start.
With his continued efforts, he reached the finishing end for gold medal by posting a time of 1 minute and 01.52 seconds.
His incredible pace remained 1.23 seconds faster from Igor Borysik of DON, who proved his mettle for silver medal of the event by clocking a time of 1 minute and 02.75 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Herring Dmitry of Cues, who stayed nearly 0.50 seconds apart and stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 03.30 seconds.
Following that, Alex Rozhkov of DPR stayed 0.62 seconds behind the bronze medallist and emerged on the finishing end for fourth position with the timing of 1 minute and 03.92 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was secured by Twin Alexander of DPR, who was just 0.10 seconds behind and hit the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 04.02 seconds.
Alexander remained 0.11 seconds ahead of ANW’s Fedina Rostislav, who ended his swim in sixth best place by clocking a time of 1 minute and 04.13 seconds.
Afterwards, the crowd experienced gruelling efforts of Yuri Harbulinskyy of SLM, who went full rampant to secure seventh position of the event.
Harbulinskyy remained 0.13 seconds away from out-touching his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 04.26 seconds.
Finally, Card Vitaly of OH completed his swim in eighth best place as he remained 0.33 seconds slower from his former finisher and clocked a time of 1 minute and 04.59 seconds.
In addition, the crowd appreciated forceful efforts of all contestants in the 100m discipline whereas the position holders were called upon the medal rostrum for awards and accolades after the conclusion of session.
