The Spanish midfielder agrees that they were outplayed by the Germans, but is not ready to give up on the hopes of not coming back to winning ways this year, or even next year.
The Spanish giants, La Blaugrana, were humiliated by the German giants, Bayern Munich, as the two sides faced each other in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. Barcelona were not the favourites to win the tie, but they were not expected to get humiliated
by the Germans while being away from home.
For the past five seasons, Barcelona have been dominating the world of football. They have won the European competition twice in these five years and since 2006, the Catalan giants have won the title thrice.
Under Josep Guardiola’s tenure Barcelona were always the team to watch. With the tiki-taka style of play, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 showed the world how physical side of the game can be eliminated and the team can easily win games through tactics and beautiful attacking
play.
However, the Spanish giants faced the German league leaders, Bayern Munich, on Tuesday and the Germans were able to win the game 4-0. The humiliating defeat at the Allianz Arena means that Barcelona might not qualify for the final stage of the European competition.
This is the second time in as many years that La Blaugrana have faltered in the last four of the highly anticipated competition.
According to Andres Iniesta, counting Barcelona out is not the right way to go about things, and there is still a way through which the Spanish giants can make it to the final.
“It is unfair to talk about the end of a cycle. This team has in the last five years won two Champions League titles and four League titles…it is a blessed cycle.”
“Next year we will fight for the titles, but we will have to improve things and the club must improve to reach their level at the semi-finals and by the final game.”
“Football is becoming increasingly complicated and if you are on top, even more so.”
La Blaugrana will now be hosting Bayern Munich in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi final. On the other hand, Real Madrid lost their semi-final game against the German side, Borussia Dortmund. This means that there is a possibility of an
all-German final at Wembley, rather than an El Clasico which most of the fans expected.
